This class hones basic skills of hammering patterns, recognizing scale patterns, simple chord theory, dynamics, embellishments and more using a lively, traditional American repertoire. - Intermediate Hammered Dulcimer with Ken Kolodner
This class will explore chords, back-up techniques and arranging on the hammered dulcimer working with a largely French-Canadian Repertoire to have more fun in jam sessions, dance bands and with our special guests.. - Advanced Hammered Dulcimer Technique with Dan Landrum
Techniques for focusing all your kinetic energy into the hammer heads so you can relax your mind and body, play with greater dynamic efficiency, and become the pulse of your music. - Building your Minor-Key Tune Repertoire with Lisa Malyuk
During this class, Lisa will guide you through expanding your repertoire of minor-key reels, jigs, and waltzes. After learning the melodies, stylistic nuances, playing techniques and arrangements will also be developed. All instruments are welcome. - Know your Bow with Heather Malyuk (Saturday only)
Identify and build effective bowing techniques for reels and jigs that will help you build stamina, improve your tone, and increase rhythmic accents and accuracy. - Music of PEI with Helene Bergeron and Louise Arsenault
This interactive class explores the music of Prince Edward Island with it’s French, Irish and Scottish influences and will include song and dance portions as well as traditional instrumental dance music.
Acadian Sampler, with Helene is aimed at mixed-instruments and
Acadian Fiddle with Louise will be concentrating on the fiddle, working on the bowing, phrasing and stylistic elements that define this unique regional style.
Students in intermediate and advanced classes should have a familiarity with their instruments and be able to learn tunes either from sheet music or by ear.
