Classes
The classes below are designed for students wishing to take a single class for the entire weekend and will run on both days if there are sufficient applicants Folk Fiddle For Seasoned Beginners is designed for newer students who need some work with basic skills and learn more slowly than our larger group classes. It will cover some of the basic elements of playing including holding the violin, left-hand technique, bowing, tone production, practicing and building technical facility while learning some traditional folk melodies in a few different styles. (Julia Borland) ' "A la Carte" Classes for Fiddle and Mixed Instruments The fiddle classes will present a few repertoire pieces from one or more traditions and work on ornamentation, bowing, phrasing and more that define each style presented. Please select classes at your ability level. Mixed instrument classes combine repertoire and ensemble skills. *Recording devices (with batteries!) are recommended for getting the most out of ALL class sessions. Sheet music will be provided for some repertoire but ability to read music is not a prerequisite and learning by ear is strongly encouraged.
